How these sheets are drawn

A specification sheet for people who build websites for a living and are tired of reviews written for people who do not.

PixelBrief exists because website builder reviews are almost all written for somebody opening their first site, and designers are not that reader. You do not need to be told that a drag-and-drop editor is easy. You need to know where the tool will stop you, what it does to values you typed deliberately, and what happens to the work when the relationship with the client ends.

What gets measured

Four things, in this order: design fidelity, control over the styling model, the handoff in from a design file, and the handoff out to a client or a developer. Ease of use is deliberately not scored, because every tool in this category is learnable by someone who already understands layout, and scoring gentleness would reward the least capable tool.

Scores are assessments of documented capability and published terms. Nobody here runs a stopwatch over a stranger's published site and reports the result as a characteristic of the platform, because that measures the site, not the tool. Where a claim is a judgement rather than a fact, it is written so you can tell.

Where the numbers come from

Prices are read from the vendor's own pricing page and dated. Every sheet carries the date it was last verified in its title block, and the site's working file of figures records the source for each one and marks anything that could not be confirmed directly.

That distinction is doing real work in this category. Two of the tools covered here restructured their plans during 2026 — Webflow retired two site plans and merged them, Framer retired two and dropped a third from its public page — so a large share of the pricing advice in circulation describes tiers that no longer exist. Where a figure could only be found through secondary sources, the copy says "around" and means it.

What is not here

There are no user testimonials, because inventing them is fraud and collecting them honestly is a different business. There are no hands-on performance benchmarks, for the reason given above. And there is no ranking of templates: a designer buying a template is buying somebody else's constraints on top of the platform's, which is a decision this site has nothing useful to say about.

How this is paid for

Some links to vendors are partner links, and a paid signup through one may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. It has no influence on a score or a rank. The affiliate disclosure sets out the rules in full, and the strongest evidence for them is in the copy itself — the criticisms of the highest-ranked tool on this site are the longest ones.

If a figure here is wrong, or a platform has changed something since a sheet was issued, tell us. Corrections are the whole product.
